The connection to the earth - we call it earthing or grounding - is expected to reduce inflammation, pain and relieve stress. Blood flow improves and vitality increases.
A half-litre Polarix bottle made of laboratory borosilicate glass makes sure that whilst at work at our computers, we drink natural water. A Polarix disc at the bottom captures bioenergy from the environment like an antenna, breaking up the clusters of molecules that form in the water as it flows through long tubes. It creates a "vortex" of water that flows easily through water channels in cell membranes measuring just 0.3 nanometres across. Even water molecules, which are tetrahedral in shape, are just under 0.3 nanometres in diameter. So only single water molecules can pass through the channels! To break up the clusters of water molecules, the body uses a lot of energy that it would otherwise need to heal itself. And the Polarix bottle allows it to self-heal.
Natural blood thinning
Earthing has been shown to improve blood circulation. In a 2013 study, the zeta potential of ten healthy subjects increased by an average of about 270 percent after two hours of grounding. Zeta potential refers to the strength of the negative charge on the surface of red blood cells. It is the factor that maintains the spacing between cells in the bloodstream. The higher the charge, the greater the chance of cells repelling each other (less sticking together in clusters), the lower the blood viscosity and the better the blood flow. The increase measured in this study represents a natural blood thinning effect.
The researchers concluded that earthing/grounding reduces blood viscosity and the clumping of blood cells into clusters. It is one of the simplest and yet most profound interventions to help reduce the risk of cardiovascular problems and cardiovascular events.
IMPROVED FACIAL BLOOD FLOW
In 2014, Gaétan Chevalier, a researcher at the Developmental and Cell Biology Department at the University of California, Irvine, USA, used a Laser Speckle Contrast Imaging camera to demonstrate for the first time evidence that grounding causes a rapid improvement in blood flow in the face and improves the regulation of peripheral blood flow in the autonomic nervous system. The study revealed a fascinating and clear rhythmicity in blood flow in the human face during grounding. It also showed that people who were sham-grounded (placebo) did not have these beneficial effects.
Such rhythmicity relates to a more efficient regulation of blood flow in the autonomic nervous system. It explains how grounding improves nutrient supply and restores facial tissues and skin, thus creating a beauty effect. Improved microcirculation of the face is the goal of various therapies in the beauty industry.

Thermographic images of body revival – Facial image obtained by the thermal imaging camera before using the earthing/grounding mat (left) and after 1 hour of using the mat and drinking water (right). The facial skin temperature rose by almost one degree on average, which is significant according to thermographic criteria. A temperature rise of half a degree is already a clear indicator of change. Of course, the temperature of the whole body has risen.
In the photo on the left (before the grounding), the highest temperature on the face is 36.5 ⁰C, the lowest 30.4 ⁰C, and the average temperature of the whole face is 34.5 ⁰C. In the photo on the right (after grounding), the highest facial temperature is 37 ⁰C, the lowest 32.9 ⁰C and the average whole body temperature is 35.4 ⁰C. The maximum temperature increased by half a degree, the minimum by two and a half degrees and the average by almost one degree (0.9) Celsius. The lowest temperature rose the most. This means that the mat stimulated the body to regulate body temperature as best it can for good health.
The thermography was performed by Zvonimir Zore, MD, from the Orlando Clinic for Otorhinolaryngology, Anaesthesiology and General Surgery in Zagreb, who uses thermography to identify health changes. He focuses on breast health primarily. He carried out the measurements at the Futuristic Clinic medical centre in Ljubljana.

LESS STRESS CORTISOL
Gaétan Chevalieralso explained other mechanisms that are important in grounding: improved blood flow (zeta potential), improved general physiology, a calming effect on the body and normalisation of the stress hormone cortisol (stress is linked to many skin problems) and reduced inflammation.
People look younger and more rested after being earthed/grounded, even if for a short time only. In 2012, 100 women attending a wellness conference were surveyed. The women filled in a questionnaire before and after one hour of grounding while sitting at a lecture in the conference hall. More than three quarters of them reported that they were in a better mood, had more energy and had an improved complexion, which was more vital and had more colour after the grounding session.
BETTER BLOOD FLOW TO THE TORSO
In a 2015 study, a thermal camera was used to demonstrate the beneficial effect of grounding on blood flow, in this case throughout the torso. Arterial blood flows from the torso through the neck to the head and face. Better blood flow to the face also means better blood flow to the brain. An imaging study described improved circulation of lymphatic fluid through the torso and improved digestion.
CONTACT WITH THE GROUND IS ESSENTIAL
Grounding is the connection of the body to the earth, where the bare skin comes into contact with the earth's natural surface and its electrons, either directly or through an intermediate conductor - grounding aids. The negatively charged free electrons from the earth's surface penetrate into the human body, where they neutralise positively charged free radicals that are electron deficient. The Earth's surface is the source of an unlimited, ever-renewable supply of free or travelling electrons, explains Ajša Krajnc in her book The Healing Power of the Earth
Barefoot walking or walking with leather shoes, sitting, standing or sleeping on the ground has long enabled mankind to allow electrons from the surface of the earth to pass into the body and every part of the body to become electrically balanced - organs, tissues and cells. Now that we have footwear, we are isolated and therefore energetically malnourished. Therefore, we need to reconnect with the earth in order to return to our natural state as bioelectric beings and regain our energy and health. We need to reconnect to our most natural electrical source - the Earth.
THE BIOELECTRIC NATURE OF MAN
And why do humans need electricity at all? Because our inner workings are electrical. Every cell can be thought of as a microscopically small electrical device. The movement of nutrients and water in and out of cells is influenced by an electric field. Each cell has its own frequency range of action. A multitude of different cells receive and give off energy in carefully programmed biochemical reactions. In a way, all our actions are driven by electricity. The heart, the nervous system, the muscles and the immune system are all electrical subsystems of our body. This is what electrophysiology studies are - the science of electrical phenomena in a living organism and the effects of electrical stimuli on the organism.
